I’m Elizabeth Gritzmacher and Giving Light Photography is my dream work. I want to take your hand wherever you’re at in the journey of parenthood and work with you to create meaningful, artistic images that help you remember this momentous time in your family’s life.
I’m here to help you celebrate the experience of becoming a parent, no matter what your path looks like. Bring me your stories of resilience, of overcoming, of pure celebration — I will help you craft your story in images that show your strength.
In Spanish, the term for giving birth is, “dar luz,” meaning, “to give light.” I’ve always thought that was the most beautiful term and a gift of a sentiment in the Spanish language. Giving Light also captures my mission: to bring light into the birth space and celebrate it as a space of power, agency, and respect. I hope to create a space here that honors all paths to parenthood, from homebirth, cesarean birth, and surrogacy, to single parenthood, transparenthood and beyond. All are welcome here, and I so look forward to learning and documenting your unique story.
I am currently training to become a certified Labor Doula with Birthingway College of Midwifery, and I look forward to bringing my skills as a doula into the birthing space as a photographer.
So who am I, in a few words? A curious adventurer, an insatiable world-wanderer, a lover of books, good conversation, and occasionally an excellent mezcal. I'm proud to say I'm a 5th generation Oregonian and a Portlander deep down in my heart, but I've been fed and shaped by time living in the human wilds of New York, the semi-arid mountains of Northern Arizona, and some dizzyingly beautiful spots in Latin America. What do you say we meet, swap stories, and get to know each other in real life?
Head over to my Contact page and drop me a line — I'll be in touch within 24 hours. I can't wait to start making magic together.
